Last week, I took grandchild no.3 to his toddler sense class. Elliott, who's two, years old, is a wonderful, quiet, loving child, who sleeps well, and eats whatever he's given. So, it was quite an eye opener to see my little angel suddenly go bananas on entering a room full of mums and toddlers. Scrambling as fast as his little legs would go, he climbed the padded apparatus, and dive- bombed onto the shocked toddlers below. Landing smack bang in the middle with a delighted shriek. Within minutes of Elliott, arriving, young mums were whipping up their wispy haired, trembling, little darlings as he ran around, mowing down any kid that got in the way. Then gleefully, bouncing up and down on the castle, he scattered dozens more. Screaming excitedly, he whizzed around on a plastic bug. And with me in hot pursuit, he jumped, into the ball pit, with a giant, blow up frog tucked under his arm. And as he hurled around chasing bubbles, and tripping over his feet, it was impossible to catch him. 'No we don't jump into the pretend pond do we Elliott. We catch the fish on the hook,' explained the teacher patiently, helping him out of the plastic pit . 'Oh dear, now what's happened' she asked, as she untangled him from a net he was meant to gently, swish up and down. Whirling from one game to another our robust, little Elliott, was having a ball, while his rather fragile play mates froze with fear. Next, the music piped up, and multiple pairs of terrified eyes, swivelled to watch Elliott, stealing the show, doing what I can only describe as a foot stomping 'thumbs in belt, barn dance.' 🎶🎶🎶 I don't think I've ever seen a child enjoy himself so much. Then red-faced, and sweaty he clapped his chubby little hands and sang 'Goodbye my friends' with gusto. 'Ummmm, Nana' he said, enjoying his drink and biscuit, while I put on his shoes. Then, after giving the teacher a goodbye cuddle, and snogging the face off, any kid that didn't move fast enough, he headed for the door. Thanks Elliott, I haven't laughed so much in ages. Your enthusiasm is both infectious and hilarious. Not sure the other mums and Nana's would agree though. 😘😍❤
